Senior Operations Manager - Energy Storage

About the Role

Our client is seeking a results-oriented Senior Operations Manager to oversee the operational excellence of their expanding portfolio of energy storage facilities across Edinburgh and surrounding regions. This hybrid role demands a leader capable of managing diverse teams, optimizing performance, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of battery energy storage systems (BESS). You will be instrumental in maximizing the value and uptime of these critical assets, contributing to grid stability and the growth of renewable energy integration. This position offers a blend of strategic oversight and operational leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations and maintenance (O&M) of multiple energy storage facilities .
• Develop and implement operational strategies to maximize asset performance, availability, and revenue generation.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements for BESS operations.
• Lead and mentor site operations teams, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation for the operations department.
• Collaborate with engineering, project development, and commercial teams to support new project deployments and upgrades.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; Master's preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in operations management, with a significant focus on the energy sector , preferably renewables or grid-scale storage.
• Proven experience managing complex operational teams and budgets.
• Strong understanding of battery energy storage systems (BESS) technology, grid integration, and power markets.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to effectively manage responsibilities in a hybrid work environment.
