Senior Operations Manager - Energy Storage

About the Role

Our client seeks a strategic and results-oriented Senior Operations Manager specializing in Energy Storage to join their growing team in Belfast . This leadership position will be responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the company's battery energy storage systems (BESS) portfolio across the region. You will drive operational excellence, manage a team of site technicians and engineers, and ensure optimal performance and grid compliance. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of BESS technology, grid operations, and regulatory frameworks, combined with exceptional leadership and problem-solving capabilities, to contribute to the stability and reliability of the power grid during the energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of energy storage facilities , ensuring uptime and performance targets are met.
• Develop and implement operational procedures, safety protocols, and maintenance schedules for BESS.
• Manage and mentor a team of operational staff, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
• Monitor system performance, analyze data, and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant grid codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical) or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in operations management within the energy sector, with a focus on energy storage or power systems.
• Demonstrated experience with battery management systems (BMS) and SCADA systems.
• Strong knowledge of grid operations, power systems, and renewable energy integration .
• Proven leadership and team management skills, with excellent communication abilities.
