About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Power Electronics Engineer for a fully remote position, supporting their innovative product development initiatives with links to their Nottingham base. This role involves the design, simulation, and testing of high-performance power electronic converters and systems for a variety of applications. You will be a key contributor to the R&D process, working independently and collaborating with virtual teams to push the boundaries of power conversion technology. This is an ideal role for an experienced engineer who excels in a remote work setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop advanced power electronic circuits , including AC-DC, DC-DC, and DC-AC converters.
- Perform detailed simulations and analysis of circuit performance, thermal management, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
- Select appropriate components, including MOSFETs, IGBTs, diodes, capacitors, and inductors, for optimal system performance.
- Develop and execute test plans for prototypes and production units, analyzing results to ensure design validation.
- Collaborate with firmware engineers to develop and integrate control algorithms for power converters.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies within a remote engineering structure.
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics.
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in the design and development of power electronic systems.
- Strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience with modern power semiconductor devices and topologies.
- Proficiency in simulation tools such as SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, and ANSYS Simplorer.
- Experience with control loop design and implementation for power converters.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and proficiency in remote communication and collaboration tools.
