About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Process Chemist to join their innovative manufacturing team in Belfast . This role is central to the development, optimisation, and troubleshooting of chemical manufacturing processes. You will lead projects aimed at improving product quality, increasing yields, and reducing environmental impact. Working within a cutting-edge laboratory and production environment, you will collaborate with a team of chemists and engineers, contributing your expertise to drive scientific and operational advancements. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and optimisation of chemical synthesis routes and manufacturing processes.
- Conduct detailed analytical testing and characterisation of raw materials, intermediates, and final products.
- Troubleshoot process deviations and implement solutions to ensure consistent product quality and yield.
- Develop and validate analytical methods for process monitoring and quality control.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to scale up laboratory processes to pilot and commercial production scales.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements for the pharmaceutical/chemical sector.
Requirements
- PhD or MSc in Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in process chemistry within a manufacturing or R&D setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in synthetic organic chemistry and process scale-up.
- Proficiency with analytical instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, GC-MS, NMR).
- Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and lead technical projects.
