About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to lead safety initiatives at their major industrial facility in Belfast . This critical role involves ensuring the highest standards of process safety are maintained across all operations, from design through to decommissioning. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety management systems, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of process safety principles and regulations, with a proven track record of implementing effective safety strategies in complex industrial environments within Northern Ireland .

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement comprehensive process safety management (PSM) systems.
Lead and participate in process hazard analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and risk assessments.
Develop and maintain safety procedures, standards, and guidelines.
Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
Provide expert advice and training on process safety to engineering and operational staff.
Ensure compliance with relevant national and international process safety regulations.

Requirements

Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
Significant experience (7+ years) in process safety engineering, preferably in the chemical or manufacturing industry.
In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, risk assessment techniques, and safety barriers.
Experience with inherently safer design principles.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
