About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Process Chemist to join their established research and development facility in Milton Keynes . This critical role involves optimizing and scaling up chemical synthesis routes for novel compounds, ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective production. You will play a key part in the transition of laboratory-scale processes to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing. This position offers the chance to work on challenging chemical development projects within a collaborative and safety-conscious environment, contributing directly to the success of our client's product pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and validate synthetic routes for complex organic molecules suitable for large-scale manufacturing.
- Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement appropriate safety controls to ensure safe operations.
- Perform reaction calorimetry and other studies to understand reaction kinetics and thermodynamics for scale-up.
- Investigate and resolve process-related issues during pilot plant trials and manufacturing campaigns.
- Collaborate with engineers to design and commission new process equipment and facilities in Milton Keynes .
- Author detailed process descriptions, batch records, and regulatory documentation.
Requirements
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Process Chemistry.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant industrial experience in process development and scale-up of chemical syntheses.
- Strong understanding of organic reaction mechanisms, catalysis, and purification techniques.
- Hands-on experience with process safety assessments and scale-up considerations (e.g., heat transfer, mixing).
- Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, NMR, and MS for process monitoring.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a commitment to quality and safety in a Milton Keynes -based role.
