About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Process Design Engineer to lead the design efforts for innovative chemical processes at their facility in Derby, Derbyshire, UK . This role is critical for translating conceptual ideas into detailed engineering designs that are safe, efficient, and cost-effective. You will leverage your extensive experience to guide design projects, mentor junior engineers, and ensure that all designs meet the highest industry standards. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the detailed design phase of chemical process projects, including PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
- Perform complex process calculations, simulations, and modeling to optimize design parameters.
- Ensure designs comply with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and design staff.
- Manage design documentation and ensure timely completion of design packages for procurement and construction.
Requirements
- BSc/MSc in Chemical Engineering with a strong academic background.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in process design engineering, preferably within the chemical or pharmaceutical sectors.
- Expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, CHEMCAD) and CAD tools.
- In-depth understanding of unit operations, thermodynamics , and fluid dynamics.
- Strong project management and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective team collaboration.
