Senior Process Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a leader in innovative chemical solutions, is searching for an experienced Senior Process Design Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire . This role is essential for the conceptualization and detailed design of new chemical plants and process modifications, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and cost-effectiveness. You will be responsible for leading design projects from inception through to execution, working closely with project managers, procurement, and construction teams. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of process design packages, including PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
• Perform process simulations and calculations for mass and energy balances, hydraulics, and P&ID development.
• Conduct design reviews and HAZOP studies to ensure safety and operability.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and project teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of experience in process design, with a strong track record in chemical plant projects.
• Expertise in process simulation software and P&ID creation tools.
• Thorough understanding of process safety regulations and design principles.
• Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
