About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent and experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their facility in Milton Keynes . This critical role will ensure the safe design, operation, and maintenance of chemical and process facilities, focusing on preventing major accidents and mitigating risks. You will be responsible for implementing and overseeing robust process safety management systems, conducting hazard analyses, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a deep commitment to safety, a comprehensive understanding of process safety principles, and the ability to influence safety culture across the organization. This is a key position within our operations, contributing directly to the protection of people and the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive process safety management (PSM) systems .
- Conduct and lead hazard identification and risk assessment studies, such as HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA.
- Develop and review Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments for safety instrumented systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry best practices, and company standards for process safety .
- Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide technical support and training on process safety principles to engineering, operations, and maintenance personnel.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the chemical or petrochemical industry .
- In-depth knowledge of process safety methodologies, standards (e.g., COMAH, OSHA PSM), and regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience in conducting and leading HAZOP and other risk assessment studies.
- Strong understanding of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and their design requirements.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
