Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their established operational team based in Milton Keynes . This critical role is dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of safety across all operational processes within their facilities. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and auditing process safety management systems, conducting hazard analyses, and driving a culture of safety excellence. Working closely with operations and engineering departments, you will play a vital part in mitigating risks and safeguarding personnel and assets in a highly regulated industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust Process Safety Management (PSM) systems.
• Conduct thorough Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies, Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and risk assessments.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs for site personnel.
• Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Manage the mechanical integrity program for critical safety equipment and systems.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience (5+ years) in process safety engineering within the energy sector or a similar hazardous industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements , risk assessment methodologies, and safety case preparation.
• Experience with HAZOP, LOPA, and other quantitative risk assessment techniques.
• Strong understanding of relevant UK and international safety regulations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
