About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their established operations in Leeds . This vital role is focused on ensuring the highest standards of safety across all chemical processing activities. You will lead the development and implementation of robust safety management systems, conduct critical risk assessments, and provide expert guidance to engineering and operational teams. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) , including HAZOP, LOPA, and what-if studies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and policies.
- Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., COMAH).
- Provide expert advice and training on process safety principles and best practices to staff at all levels.
- Review process designs and modifications to ensure inherent safety and risk mitigation.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Substantial experience (7+ years) in process safety engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of PSM elements , risk assessment techniques, and safety regulations.
- Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) design and lifecycle management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
