About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their team in Bristol . This vital role ensures that all chemical processes and facilities operate with the highest safety standards, minimizing risks to personnel, the environment, and the company. You will lead and conduct safety assessments, develop safety procedures, and provide expert guidance on process safety management (PSM). The ideal candidate is proactive, possesses deep knowledge of safety regulations and best practices, and is committed to fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization, playing a crucial role in maintaining operational integrity and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and programs.
- Review process designs and modifications to ensure compliance with safety regulations and internal standards.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and deviations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver process safety training to engineers, operators, and other relevant personnel.
- Stay abreast of evolving safety regulations, industry best practices, and emerging technologies in process safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in process safety engineering, with a strong focus on the chemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of process safety principles, standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, COMAH), and risk assessment methodologies.
- Experience with safety software and tools for consequence modeling and risk analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to influence stakeholders at all levels.
