About the Role
Our client, a prominent international chemical company, is actively recruiting a Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their globally distributed team, operating remotely from Belfast . This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all company operations, mitigating risks, and fostering a robust safety culture. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and overseeing process safety management systems, working with engineering and operational teams worldwide to uphold safety excellence in a fully remote capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in line with regulatory requirements.
- Investigate process safety incidents, near misses, and deviations, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide expert guidance on safety design principles for new projects and modifications to existing facilities.
- Develop and deliver training programs on process safety topics to engineers and operational staff.
- Stay current with evolving process safety regulations, standards, and best practices, advising the organization accordingly.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering , Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of dedicated experience in process safety engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies and PSM elements (e.g., OSHA PSM, Seveso Directive).
- Experience with consequence modeling software (e.g., PHAST, EFFECTS) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders across diverse teams and locations.
