Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and knowledgeable Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their team in Portsmouth . This role is vital in ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained across all chemical operations and projects. You will lead process hazard analyses, develop safety procedures, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, contributing significantly to a safe working environment. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Develop and implement robust process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with national and international safety regulations and standards.
• Conduct incident investigations and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Provide expert advice on safety aspects of process design, modifications, and operations.
• Train and mentor personnel on process safety principles and practices.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• In-depth understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, COMAH).
• Proficiency in risk assessment methodologies and tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
