Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their remote-first operations, supporting projects globally. This role is critical in ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all engineering and operational activities within the Oil & Gas sector. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing robust process safety management systems, conducting comprehensive risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture. This position is ideal for an expert who can provide strategic safety leadership and technical guidance from a distance, contributing to the prevention of major accidents and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) , including HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL assessments.
• Develop and maintain process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Review engineering designs and operational procedures for process safety compliance.
• Provide expert advice and training on process safety principles and best practices to internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of evolving regulatory requirements and industry standards related to process safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in process safety engineering , with a significant focus on the Oil & Gas industry .
• In-depth knowledge of quantitative risk assessment (QRA) methodologies and safety integrity level (SIL) analysis.
• Experience with developing and implementing Process Safety Management (PSM) programs .
• Strong understanding of relevant international safety standards and regulations.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, essential for effective remote collaboration .
