Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Research Chemist specializing in Synthetic Organic Chemistry to join their innovative R&D team in Southampton . This role is central to the design and execution of novel synthetic routes for complex molecules, crucial for the development of new products and technologies. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute multi-step synthetic routes for novel and complex organic molecules.
- Optimize existing synthetic processes to improve yield, purity, and scalability.
- Characterize synthesized compounds using advanced analytical techniques (e.g., NMR, Mass Spectrometry, HPLC).
- Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and develop creative solutions to overcome synthetic hurdles.
- Collaborate closely with other chemists and researchers to integrate synthetic efforts with broader research goals.
- Maintain detailed experimental records and contribute to the preparation of technical reports and publications.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industrial experience in synthetic organic chemistry .
- Demonstrated expertise in modern synthetic methodologies, including asymmetric synthesis and organometallic chemistry.
- Proficiency in spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques for compound characterization.
- Experience in process development and scale-up is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail in a laboratory setting in Southampton .
