About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Research Scientist with expertise in Marine Biology to join their world-class research institute located in Plymouth . This role is central to understanding and conserving marine ecosystems, focusing on areas such as marine biodiversity, oceanography, and the impact of environmental changes. You will lead field research expeditions, conduct laboratory analyses, and contribute to significant scientific publications and policy recommendations. Key Responsibilities
- Design, conduct, and manage field and laboratory-based research projects in marine biology.
- Analyze ecological data, including population dynamics, species interactions, and environmental parameters.
- Develop and implement methodologies for sampling, specimen collection, and analysis of marine organisms and their habitats.
- Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at international scientific conferences.
- Secure research funding through grant writing and collaboration with external agencies.
- Mentor junior researchers, students, and interns, fostering a collaborative research environment.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Marine Biology, Ecology, Oceanography, or a related environmental science discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral research experience with a strong publication record in marine science.
- Proven experience in field research, including diving certifications and boat handling skills, if applicable to the role.
- Expertise in quantitative ecological analysis, statistical modeling, and relevant software (e.g., R, PRIMER).
- Experience with marine monitoring techniques, genetic analysis, or isotopic analysis is advantageous.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management skills.
