About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist with a specialization in Molecular Biology to join their dedicated research team in Edinburgh . You will be responsible for the design, execution, and analysis of critical experiments, contributing to the development and optimization of novel molecular platforms. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of complex molecular biology experiments, including gene cloning, PCR, qPCR, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation.
- Develop and optimize molecular assays for target validation and characterization.
- Analyze and interpret complex molecular data, generating robust conclusions and recommendations.
- Collaborate with computational biologists and other research teams to integrate diverse datasets.
- Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records, and contribute to scientific reports and publications.
- Troubleshoot experimental issues and develop innovative solutions to overcome technical challenges.
Requirements
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in molecular biology research.
- Extensive hands-on experience with a wide range of molecular biology techniques.
- Proficiency in bioinformatics tools for sequence analysis and data interpretation.
- Experience with gene editing technologies (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9) is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills within a laboratory setting.
