Senior Substation Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly skilled Senior Substation Design Engineer to join their forward-thinking team, working remotely to support the development of crucial energy infrastructure. This role is integral to designing and enhancing high-voltage substations that are vital for the stability and expansion of the power grid. You will collaborate with a distributed network of engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to deliver state-of-the-art substation solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptual and detailed design of high-voltage substations (e.g., 132kV, 275kV, 400kV).
• Develop detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications for substation components, including switchgear, transformers, and busbars.
• Perform power system studies, such as load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination analysis.
• Ensure designs meet all relevant national and international standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with external stakeholders, including grid operators, manufacturers, and construction teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in substation design engineering, with a proven track record in high-voltage AC systems.
• In-depth knowledge of substation components, protection relays, earthing systems, and high-voltage equipment .
• Proficiency in substation design software and power system analysis tools.
• Experience in managing design projects and working within a remote team environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
