Senior Telecoms Systems Administrator

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Telecoms Systems Administrator to manage and maintain their critical telecommunications systems from their hub in Reading . This role is vital for ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of the company's communication platforms, including voice, data, and network infrastructure. You will be responsible for system upgrades, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing robust security measures. This is a key position for a skilled administrator looking to take ownership of and enhance sophisticated telecoms systems .

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and maintain core telecoms systems , including PBX, VoIP gateways, and mobile infrastructure.
• Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure security and functionality.
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify and resolve issues to minimize downtime.
• Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, access controls, and intrusion detection systems.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, operational procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and junior administrators.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Systems Administrator with a strong focus on telecommunications technologies.
• In-depth knowledge of VoIP, SIP, PBX systems, and associated protocols.
• Experience with network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Strong understanding of Linux/Unix and Windows server environments.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation is a plus.
