About the Role
Our client is looking for a forward-thinking Smart Grid Engineer to join their innovative team in Brighton . This role is central to the development and implementation of next-generation grid technologies, focusing on enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of the power distribution network. You will work on projects involving smart metering, grid automation, demand-side management, and the integration of renewable energy sources. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of power systems engineering combined with expertise in digital technologies and communication networks. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage smart grid technologies, including SCADA, AMI, and distribution automation systems.
- Analyze grid performance data to identify areas for improvement and optimize energy flow.
- Develop strategies for integrating distributed energy resources (DERs) and renewables into the grid.
- Collaborate with IT and OT teams to ensure seamless communication and data exchange within the smart grid infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system designs and operational procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to smart grid devices and systems.
Requirements
- Proven experience in power systems engineering or electrical engineering, with a focus on smart grid technologies .
- Familiarity with communication protocols relevant to smart grids (e.g., IEC 61850, DNP3).
- Knowledge of power system analysis software and tools.
- Experience with data analytics and visualization techniques.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
