Special Educational Needs (SEN) Coordinator

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and empathetic Special Educational Needs (SEN) Coordinator to oversee provision for students with diverse learning needs at their school in Belfast . This key role involves developing and implementing effective SEN strategies, collaborating with teachers, parents, and external specialists to ensure all students receive the support necessary for academic and personal success. You will be a champion for inclusive education, driving best practices and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential within a supportive and nurturing school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor the school's SEN policy and provision effectively.
• Coordinate the identification and assessment of students with special educational needs.
• Liaise with parents, teachers, external agencies, and support services to ensure cohesive support plans.
• Support teachers in differentiating instruction and providing appropriate interventions for students with SEN.
• Maintain accurate records of SEN students and their progress, and manage the SEN budget.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Relevant SEN qualification (e.g., NASENCO) or significant experience in an SEN role.
• In-depth knowledge of SEN legislation and best practices in inclusive education.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
• Experience working with a range of special educational needs in a school setting in Belfast .
