About the Role
Our client seeks a highly skilled Subsurface Geologist to join their fully remote exploration team. This role is integral to identifying and evaluating new exploration opportunities within the oil and gas sector. You will be responsible for interpreting geological data, building subsurface models, and assessing the prospectivity of potential plays, all while collaborating virtually with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and management. This position offers the chance to make a significant impact on the company's exploration strategy from the comfort of your home office.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret geological data, including core samples, well logs, and seismic data, to define subsurface geological models.
- Evaluate prospectivity and estimate risked hydrocarbon volumes for new exploration opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with geophysicists to integrate seismic interpretations and identify potential traps.
- Contribute to the development of exploration strategies and portfolio management.
- Prepare detailed geological reports, presentations, and prospect evaluations for management review.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in subsurface geology, with a strong focus on exploration within the oil and gas industry .
- Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix) and geological data analysis.
- Strong understanding of sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology, and structural geology.
- Excellent remote collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a virtual team environment.
