About the Role
Our client is looking for a compassionate and committed Support Worker to join their team supporting individuals with learning disabilities in Edinburgh . You will empower service users to lead fulfilling and independent lives by providing personalised care and support, both within their homes and in the community. This role involves a mix of direct support and coordination, working collaboratively with families and other professionals to ensure the highest standards of care are met, offering a rewarding career path in a person-centred environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and practical assistance to individuals with learning disabilities, promoting independence and dignity.
- Support service users in engaging with community activities, hobbies, and social opportunities.
- Assist with daily living tasks, including meal preparation, medication management, and maintaining a safe living environment.
- Implement and follow individual support plans, ensuring consistency and effectiveness of care strategies.
- Communicate effectively with service users, their families, and the wider support team, including attending review meetings.
- Promote social inclusion and advocate for the rights and choices of the individuals you support.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a support role, preferably with individuals with learning disabilities.
- Understanding of person-centred care principles and a commitment to promoting independence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
- Reliable, patient, and empathetic with a genuine desire to make a difference.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and potentially sleep-in duties as required.
