About the Role
Our client is looking for compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join their team in Sunderland , specialising in supporting individuals with learning disabilities . This rewarding role involves assisting clients to lead fulfilling and independent lives within their community. You will provide person-centred support, encouraging engagement in daily activities, personal care, and social inclusion. We are seeking individuals with a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to promoting dignity and respect for all individuals they support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and support to clients with learning disabilities, respecting their dignity and privacy.
- Assist clients with daily living tasks, including meal preparation, household chores, and attending appointments.
- Encourage and support clients to participate in community activities and maintain social connections.
- Implement and follow individual support plans, ensuring consistency and quality of care.
- Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and the wider care team.
- Report any concerns or changes in a client's well-being to the appropriate supervisor promptly.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a care or support role, preferably with learning disabilities.
- Understanding of the principles of person-centred care and independence.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training, including mandatory courses.
- A positive and empathetic approach to supporting individuals.
