Technical Support Engineer - Field Operations

About the Role

Our client requires a dedicated Technical Support Engineer to manage field operations and provide on-site technical assistance in the Reading area and across Berkshire . This role is crucial for ensuring that client systems are installed correctly, maintained effectively, and that any technical issues are resolved promptly and professionally. You will be working directly with clients, diagnosing complex problems, and implementing solutions to maintain optimal system performance. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, customer-focused, and capable of working autonomously while representing the company with expertise and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform on-site installations, configurations, and upgrades of technical equipment and systems.
• Conduct regular maintenance checks and preventative servicing to ensure system reliability.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, providing timely resolutions.
• Respond to urgent technical support requests and emergencies in the field.
• Document all technical activities, solutions, and customer interactions accurately.
• Provide technical guidance and support to clients, fostering positive working relationships.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a technical support or field service engineering role.
• Strong knowledge of IT systems, networks, and relevant hardware/software.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
• Proficiency in reading technical documentation and schematics.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently within the Reading region.
