About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Telecoms Field Engineer to join their team based in Portsmouth . This hands-on role involves installing, commissioning, and maintaining telecommunications equipment and infrastructure at various customer sites. You will be the primary technical point of contact for clients in the field, ensuring that installations meet high standards and that any technical issues are resolved promptly and effectively. This position requires a proactive individual with excellent technical skills and strong customer service orientation, ready to travel extensively within the designated service area.

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, and fibre optic systems.
Perform routine maintenance and diagnostic checks on network infrastructure at client locations.
Troubleshoot and repair faults in telecommunications systems, ensuring minimal disruption to service.
Provide technical support and guidance to clients on-site.
Accurately document all work performed, including site surveys, installations, and repair logs.
Adhere to all health and safety regulations while working on-site.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Field Engineer or in a similar technical support role within the telecoms industry.
Solid understanding of network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, Ethernet, and wireless technologies.
Experience with fibre optic splicing and testing equipment is highly desirable.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach.
A valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively within the Portsmouth area and surrounding regions.
