About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecoms Field Engineer to join their operational team, primarily serving the Portsmouth area and its surrounding regions. This hands-on role is vital for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment at customer premises and network points. You will be the face of the company to many customers, ensuring their connectivity services are delivered efficiently and professionally. Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including broadband routers, set-top boxes, and associated cabling.
- Perform diagnostic tests and troubleshoot network issues at customer locations to resolve connectivity problems.
- Respond to customer service calls and ensure timely resolution of reported faults and issues.
- Provide excellent customer service, explaining technical issues and solutions clearly to non-technical users.
- Adhere to all company health and safety procedures during site visits and installations.
- Manage inventory of equipment and tools, ensuring vehicles are well-stocked and maintained.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Field Engineer or within a similar customer-facing technical role in the telecoms industry.
- Strong understanding of broadband technologies (e.g., Fibre to the Cabinet, FTTP, ADSL).
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and testing equipment for network fault finding.
- Excellent practical skills in cabling, installation, and basic configuration of network devices.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
- Full UK driving licence is essential for travel to customer sites in and around Portsmouth .
