About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly competent Agronomist to provide expert advice and support to farmers and agricultural businesses in the Sunderland region and surrounding areas of Tyne and Wear . This role is essential for optimising crop yields, improving soil health, and promoting sustainable farming practices. You will conduct field assessments, analyze soil and crop samples, and develop tailored recommendations for nutrient management, pest control, and cultivation techniques. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of modern agronomic principles. You will work closely with growers to address their challenges and enhance their productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site field assessments of crops, soil conditions, and environmental factors.
- Analyze soil and plant tissue samples to diagnose nutrient deficiencies or other issues.
- Develop comprehensive agronomic recommendations for crop rotation, fertilization, pest management, and irrigation.
- Advise farmers on the adoption of sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices.
- Monitor crop development throughout the growing season and provide ongoing support.
- Educate clients on the use of new agricultural technologies and products.
Requirements
- Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a closely related agricultural field.
- Significant experience in practical agronomy or agricultural advisory services.
- Thorough understanding of crop physiology, soil chemistry, and plant pathology.
- Proficiency in using farm management software and data analysis tools.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships in Tyne and Wear .
