Agronomist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Agronomist to join their team supporting agricultural operations in and around Newcastle upon Tyne . This role focuses on advising farmers on the best ways to improve crop yield, quality, and soil health. You will conduct field research, analyze data, and provide expert recommendations on soil management, pest control, and fertilization. This position is crucial for promoting sustainable and profitable farming practices within the region, offering a dynamic career path for individuals passionate about agricultural science and innovation, working collaboratively with farmers and researchers to address the unique challenges of the local environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct soil testing and analysis to determine nutrient deficiencies and recommend appropriate fertilizers.
• Advise farmers on crop selection, planting techniques, and pest and disease management strategies.
• Develop and implement integrated pest management (IPM) programs.
• Monitor crop development and environmental conditions, providing timely recommendations.
• Educate farmers on sustainable agricultural practices and new technologies.
• Maintain detailed records of field trials, observations, and recommendations provided.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agronomy , Soil Science, Crop Science, or a related agricultural field.
• Demonstrated experience in crop assessment and soil analysis.
• Knowledge of plant physiology, entomology, and plant pathology.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively advise agricultural clients in Tyne and Wear .
