About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly vigilant and experienced Air Traffic Controller to manage and direct air traffic safely and efficiently at their busy facility in Birmingham . In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining safe separation between aircraft, managing traffic flow, and responding to emergencies to ensure the smooth operation of the airspace. You will work within a highly regulated environment, requiring unwavering focus, excellent communication skills, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure, contributing to the safety and efficiency of air travel in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control air traffic in assigned airspace sectors using radar, communication systems, and flight plan data.
- Issue clearances and instructions to pilots to ensure safe separation and efficient routing of aircraft.
- Coordinate with other air traffic control units and relevant agencies to manage traffic flow and resolve potential conflicts.
- Respond effectively to emergencies and unexpected situations, implementing established contingency plans.
- Maintain detailed logs and records of all air traffic control activities and communications.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, procedures, and operational standards.
Requirements
- Valid Air Traffic Controller license and relevant ratings (e.g., Aerodrome, Approach, Area Control).
- Proven experience in controlling various types of air traffic in a controlled airspace environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a clear and concise speaking voice.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm, focused, and decisive under high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency with air traffic control systems and radar displays.
- Strong understanding of aviation meteorology and principles of flight.
