About the Role
Our client is seeking a commercially astute and highly organized Automotive Parts Manager to lead their busy parts department in Portsmouth . This role is vital for ensuring the smooth operation of the service and sales departments by managing stock levels, controlling inventory, and driving parts sales profitability. You will be responsible for leading a team, managing supplier relationships, and implementing efficient stock management systems to meet customer demands and business objectives within the competitive automotive aftermarket.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the parts department, including inventory control, ordering, and stocktaking.
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize parts sales and profitability.
- Lead, train, and motivate the parts department team to achieve performance targets.
- Maintain strong relationships with manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers, negotiating favorable terms.
- Ensure efficient and accurate processing of parts orders for workshop and retail customers.
- Implement and maintain effective stock management systems to minimise holding costs and prevent stockouts.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role within an automotive parts department.
- Strong understanding of inventory management, stock control, and procurement processes.
- Excellent knowledge of automotive parts and accessories for various makes and models.
- Effective leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in using dealership management systems (DMS) and relevant software.
- Ability to analyse sales data and implement effective sales strategies.
