About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and driven Automotive Software Engineer specializing in Embedded Systems to join their innovative R&D team, remotely based but connected to their operations near Liverpool . You will be instrumental in developing the intelligent software that powers next-generation vehicles, focusing on areas such as advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), infotainment, and powertrain control. This role requires a deep understanding of embedded software development, real-time operating systems, and automotive communication protocols. You will contribute to creating robust, efficient, and safety-critical software solutions that define the future of driving.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement embedded software for automotive control units and electronic systems.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in C/C++ for real-time embedded environments.
- Develop and maintain software drivers, middleware, and application layers for various automotive ECUs.
- Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and debugging.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers and systems architects to define software requirements and architecture.
- Debug complex software issues on target hardware using in-circuit emulators and other debugging tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in embedded systems software development , preferably within the automotive industry.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming languages.
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as QNX, FreeRTOS, or similar.
- Familiarity with automotive communication protocols like CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and AUTOSAR.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and version control systems (Git).
