Education First is recruiting an experienced and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist SEN College in Croydon, starting ASAP!

The successful Behaviour Mentor will provide dedicated support to students across KS3, KS4 and KS5, helping young people manage their behaviour, regulate their emotions and engage positively with education.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Behaviour Mentor, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker or Support Worker looking for a long-term position within a specialist SEN environment!

The School

The college is a specialist setting based in South Norwood, Croydon, supporting young people with a range of special educational needs and complex behavioural, social and emotional needs.

The Role – Behaviour Mentor

As a Behaviour Mentor working within the SEN College, you will:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to students both inside and outside the classroom

• Support students with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and challenging behaviour

• Help students manage their emotions and develop positive behaviour strategies

• Support students to regulate their behaviour and remain engaged with learning

• Build positive, trusting and consistent relationships with students

• Provide academic, pastoral, emotional and behavioural support

• Encourage students to develop confidence, independence and resilience

• Use appropriate de-escalation and behaviour management techniques

• Support students during challenging or dysregulated situations

• Follow individual behaviour, learning and support plans

• Work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in Behaviour Mentors with:

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEND

• Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour

• Experience working with ASD, ADHD and SEMH

• Experience within an SEN school, specialist college, PRU, alternative provision or similar setting

• A calm, patient and resilient approach

• The ability to remain composed when managing challenging situations

• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students

• A good understanding of safeguarding

• Experience supporting students with complex needs, emotional regulation difficulties, social and communication needs or trauma-related behaviours would also be advantageous.

What You Can Expect

• £110–£120 per day, depending on experience
