Bioinformatics Scientist - Oncology

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Bioinformatics Scientist with a specialization in Oncology to join their dedicated research team in Liverpool . This role is vital for analyzing complex genomic and proteomic data from cancer patients to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets. You will work closely with oncologists and researchers to interpret findings and contribute to the development of personalized cancer treatments. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic datasets from cancer studies.
• Develop and apply computational methods for variant calling, mutation analysis, and pathway enrichment in oncology.
• Identify and validate potential cancer biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
• Collaborate with clinical and research teams to interpret data and guide experimental strategies.
• Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines and databases for oncology research.
• Contribute to the preparation of research reports, manuscripts, and presentations.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in bioinformatics, with a specific focus on oncology research.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R) and experience with bioinformatics tools and databases.
• Experience analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data in a cancer context.
• Solid understanding of cancer biology and molecular mechanisms of disease.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, essential for a remote role.
