About the Role
Our client is searching for a strategic and commercially focused Category Buyer to manage the sourcing and procurement of products within a key category for their FMCG operations in Bristol . This role is essential for ensuring the availability of high-quality products at competitive prices, managing supplier relationships, and contributing to the overall profitability and competitiveness of the company. You will leverage market knowledge and negotiation skills to secure favorable terms, optimize stock levels, and drive innovation within your assigned category, ensuring a diverse and appealing product offering for customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies for assigned FMCG categories.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms of business.
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness.
- Analyze market trends, pricing, and competitor activity to inform purchasing decisions.
- Collaborate with category management and merchandising teams to optimize product assortment and pricing.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure adequate stock availability while minimizing holding costs.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Buyer or Procurement Specialist, ideally within the FMCG or retail sector.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier contracts.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and financial information.
- Good understanding of supply chain and inventory management principles.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is advantageous.
