About the Role
Our client, a significant entity within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, is seeking a skilled and strategic Category Buyer to join their procurement team in Sheffield . This essential role will focus on sourcing, negotiating, and managing a specific category of products to ensure competitive pricing, high quality, and reliable supply. You will be responsible for understanding market trends, supplier capabilities, and cost drivers to optimize the product portfolio and contribute to the company's profitability and competitive edge. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for assigned FMCG product categories to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and availability.
- Conduct thorough supplier evaluations, negotiations, and contract management to secure favorable terms and build strong relationships.
- Monitor market trends, raw material costs, and supplier performance to identify risks and opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including product development and marketing, to align sourcing with business needs and innovation pipelines.
- Manage inventory levels for sourced products, working closely with supply chain teams to ensure optimal stock management.
- Ensure compliance with ethical sourcing practices, regulatory requirements, and company procurement policies.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Procurement or Category Buying , with a strong preference for experience within the FMCG industry.
- Proven negotiation skills and demonstrated success in managing supplier relationships and contracts.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze cost data, market intelligence, and supplier performance.
- Excellent understanding of supply chain dynamics and inventory management principles.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or a related field.
