Character Artist

About the Role

Our client, a growing game development studio located in Wolverhampton , is looking for a skilled and creative Character Artist to join their dedicated art team. You will be responsible for creating high-quality 3D character models, from initial concept to final in-game assets, ensuring they align with the artistic vision and technical requirements of our projects. Key Responsibilities

• Model, sculpt, texture, and rig high-fidelity 3D characters for use in video games.
• Collaborate with concept artists and art directors to interpret and execute character designs.
• Optimize character assets for real-time rendering, ensuring performance across target platforms.
• Create detailed normal maps, specular maps, and other texture maps to achieve realistic or stylized appearances.
• Ensure consistency in character design and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
• Stay current with industry trends and techniques in character art and game development.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Character Artist in the game industry, supported by a strong portfolio.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling and sculpting software such as Maya, ZBrush, and Blender.
• Expertise in texturing software like Substance Painter and Photoshop.
• Strong understanding of anatomy, form, and proportion .
• Experience with game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and asset integration.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to take and give constructive feedback.
