Chemical Engineer - Pharmaceutical

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Chemical Engineer with experience in the pharmaceutical sector to join their innovative team in Southampton . This role focuses on the development and scale-up of chemical processes for the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates. You will work within a highly regulated environment, ensuring compliance with GMP and other industry standards. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate chemical processes for pharmaceutical manufacturing in compliance with GMP.
• Optimize reaction conditions, purification methods, and formulation processes to improve efficiency and yield.
• Conduct pilot plant trials and troubleshoot issues during scale-up activities.
• Prepare detailed process documentation, including batch records and validation reports.
• Collaborate with analytical development, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs teams.
• Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with strict safety and environmental protocols.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• 2-4 years of experience in pharmaceutical process development or manufacturing.
• Knowledge of GMP regulations and pharmaceutical industry best practices.
• Experience with common pharmaceutical unit operations (e.g., crystallization, filtration, drying).
• Familiarity with process safety principles in a GMP environment.
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
