Our client is seeking a talented Chemical Engineer with expertise in polymer synthesis to join their dynamic team in Portsmouth . You will be involved in both laboratory-scale research and plant-scale implementation, working to enhance the properties and manufacturing efficiency of advanced polymer materials. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise synthesis routes for novel polymer materials.
• Conduct laboratory experiments to explore new catalysts, monomers, and reaction conditions.
• Scale-up polymerisation processes from lab to pilot plant and commercial production.
• Characterise polymer properties and relate them to process parameters.
• Collaborate with product development teams to meet material specifications.
• Ensure processes are safe, sustainable, and cost-effective.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science/Engineering.
• 3-6 years of experience in polymer synthesis and process development.
• Knowledge of various polymerisation techniques (e.g., free radical, condensation, living polymerisation).
• Experience with polymer characterisation techniques (e.g., GPC, DSC, TGA).
• Familiarity with process simulation and scale-up principles.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach.
