About the Role
Our client is actively searching for an accomplished Senior Chemical Process Design Engineer to join their innovative team, operating entirely remotely from Belfast . In this critical role, you will be responsible for the meticulous design and development of advanced chemical processes and facilities, ensuring they are safe, efficient, and compliant with all regulatory standards. You will lead key design phases, collaborate with global engineering teams, and provide expert technical guidance on complex process challenges. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and specification of complex chemical process equipment and systems.
- Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment datasheets.
- Conduct detailed process simulations and calculations for mass and energy balances.
- Perform Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP studies, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Provide technical support during project execution, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of design standards and best practices.
Requirements
- BEng/MEng in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline, with a strong academic background.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in chemical process design, preferably in a consultancy or EPC environment.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, UniSim) and CAD tools.
- In-depth knowledge of industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, essential for effective remote teamwork.
