About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Chemical Process Development Engineer to join their team on a fully remote basis, supporting operations in Brighton . This role is crucial for advancing our product development pipeline by designing, optimising, and scaling up new chemical processes. You will work closely with R&D scientists and other engineering disciplines to translate laboratory findings into viable, efficient, and safe manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate is passionate about innovation and possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, contributing to the company's growth and technological leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise chemical processes for new product introductions, focusing on yield, purity, and cost-effectiveness.
- Design and execute pilot plant trials to validate process parameters and gather scale-up data.
- Conduct thorough process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement appropriate safety measures.
- Create detailed process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful transfer of processes from development to manufacturing.
- Analyse process data to identify opportunities for improvement and implement continuous optimisation strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience in chemical process development, scale-up, or manufacturing support.
- Proficiency with process simulation software and data analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and separation principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and experimental design skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, suitable for a remote work environment.
