About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and qualified Chief Mine Surveyor to lead their surveying department near Reading . This senior position holds ultimate responsibility for all surveying activities across the company's mining sites, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and the effective application of advanced surveying technologies. You will manage a team of surveyors, oversee the creation and maintenance of all mine plans, and liaise with regulatory bodies. This is a pivotal role for a seasoned professional looking to take on significant leadership responsibilities within a reputable mining organization, ensuring precise spatial management of all operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the mine surveying team, providing technical guidance and professional development.
• Oversee the accurate establishment and maintenance of survey control networks for all mine operations.
• Ensure the preparation and integrity of all statutory mine plans, sections, and volumetric calculations.
• Implement and maintain high standards for survey data acquisition, processing, and quality control.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with all surveying and reporting requirements.
• Evaluate and recommend new surveying technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Surveying, Geomatics, or Mining Engineering with a surveying focus.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in mine surveying, with significant experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Expert proficiency in advanced surveying techniques, instrumentation (including total stations, GPS, laser scanning), and associated software (CAD, GIS).
• Deep understanding of mining operations, geological principles, and relevant legislation.
• Proven ability to manage teams, projects, and budgets effectively.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
