About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Mine Safety Officer to join their operations team in Reading . This vital role ensures the highest standards of health and safety are maintained across all mining activities, safeguarding the well-being of all personnel and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for implementing and enforcing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a robust safety culture. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive mine health and safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Organize and deliver health and safety training programs for all site personnel.
• Maintain accurate safety records and documentation, including risk assessments and emergency procedures.
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization, encouraging employee participation and feedback.

Requirements

• Recognized qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH National General Certificate/Diploma).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector .
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, particularly as it pertains to mining operations.
• Experience in conducting risk assessments, hazard analysis, and incident investigations.
• Strong communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively on-site in the Reading area.
