Mine Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and proactive Mine Safety Officer to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained at their operations near Reading . This role is paramount to protecting the workforce and maintaining operational continuity by identifying hazards, implementing safety procedures, and promoting a strong safety culture. You will conduct regular inspections, investigate incidents, and provide safety training to all site personnel. This is a critical position for an individual committed to safety excellence in the demanding mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive mine safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training programs to all employees and contractors, covering topics such as hazard recognition, emergency response, and safe work practices.
• Maintain safety records and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization, encouraging employee participation and feedback.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety role, preferably within the mining industry.
• In-depth knowledge of mine safety regulations and best practices.
• Certifications such as NEBOSH or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Strong communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and incident investigations.
