About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated and proactive Mine Safety Officer to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained at their operations near Reading . This role is paramount to protecting the workforce and maintaining operational continuity by identifying hazards, implementing safety procedures, and promoting a strong safety culture. You will conduct regular inspections, investigate incidents, and provide safety training to all site personnel. This is a critical position for an individual committed to safety excellence in the demanding mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive mine safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
- Deliver safety training programs to all employees and contractors, covering topics such as hazard recognition, emergency response, and safe work practices.
- Maintain safety records and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization, encouraging employee participation and feedback.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety role, preferably within the mining industry.
- In-depth knowledge of mine safety regulations and best practices.
- Certifications such as NEBOSH or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Strong communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and incident investigations.
