Childcare Development Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Childcare Development Officer to join their team in Sheffield . This role focuses on improving the quality and accessibility of childcare services within the local area. You will work on initiatives that support childcare providers, develop new services, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, playing a key role in enhancing the early years landscape for children and families.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development and improvement of local childcare provision, including nurseries, childminders, and after-school clubs.
• Provide advice and guidance to childcare providers on quality improvement, business sustainability, and curriculum development.
• Assist in the planning and delivery of training programs for childcare professionals.
• Contribute to local authority strategies related to early years and childcare.
• Monitor services to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and quality standards.
• Undertake research and gather data to inform service development and policy.

Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Childcare, Early Years, or a related field (e.g., Level 4 or 5).
• Significant experience working within the early years or childcare sector, ideally in a management or development role.
• In-depth knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and relevant legislation.
• Strong understanding of quality improvement frameworks in childcare.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
