Construction Health and Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and vigilant Construction Health and Safety Officer to ensure a safe working environment across their sites in Edinburgh and surrounding areas. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and delivering safety training. This role is critical in maintaining compliance with all relevant legislation and fostering a strong safety culture within the organization and its project teams in Scotland.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety plans for all construction projects.
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, reporting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver health and safety training to site personnel, including toolbox talks and inductions.
• Ensure all site activities comply with current health and safety legislation and company policies.
• Maintain accurate health and safety records and documentation.

Requirements

• Recognized qualification in Health and Safety, such as NEBOSH or IOSH.
• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer within the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation relevant to construction.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to conduct effective risk assessments and develop control measures.
• First Aid certification is desirable.
