About the Role
Our client requires a diligent and knowledgeable Construction Safety Officer to oversee and enforce safety protocols across various sites in the Reading area. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel, minimizing risks and ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation. This role demands a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards, implementing preventative measures, and conducting regular training and inspections. You will be a key figure in maintaining our client’s commitment to the highest standards of safety in the construction industry .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health and safety plans for construction projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards, unsafe practices, and areas of non-compliance.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
- Deliver safety training programs to all site personnel, including toolbox talks and inductions.
- Ensure all site activities comply with current UK health and safety legislation and company policies.
- Maintain safety records and documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, and accident reports.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer or similar role in construction.
- Possession of a NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent qualification is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of construction site safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and training skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and implement effective control measures.
- Strong commitment to promoting a positive safety culture across all Reading construction sites.
