About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and analytical Cost Accountant to join their manufacturing finance team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is vital for understanding and managing product costs, inventory valuation, and supporting operational efficiency through insightful financial analysis. You will work closely with production and supply chain teams to ensure accurate cost data, support budgeting and forecasting, and drive improvements in cost control measures. This is a great opportunity to gain in-depth manufacturing accounting experience within a hybrid working model, offering collaboration at our Stoke-on-Trent site and flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs for raw materials, labour, and overheads.
- Perform variance analysis (material, labour, overhead) and provide explanations for deviations.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly inventory valuations and ensure accuracy of inventory records.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process for manufacturing expenses and product costs.
- Contribute to cost reduction initiatives and process improvement projects within the manufacturing environment.
Requirements
- Part-qualified or qualified accountant (CIMA preferred) with a focus on cost accounting.
- 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing cost accounting role.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation methods, and standard costing.
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Good analytical skills and the ability to translate complex data into clear business insights.
