About the Role
Our client is seeking a knowledgeable Drilling Fluids Specialist to join their operational team in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK . This role is vital for ensuring the successful and efficient execution of drilling operations by managing the properties and performance of drilling fluids. You will provide on-site and remote technical support, troubleshoot fluid-related issues, and optimize drilling fluid programs to enhance wellbore stability, drilling efficiency, and safety within the Oil & Gas sector . This position is perfect for an individual with a strong chemistry or engineering background and hands-on experience in drilling fluid systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize drilling fluid systems to meet wellbore requirements and operational objectives.
- Conduct routine testing and analysis of drilling fluid properties.
- Provide on-site technical support and recommendations to drilling crews.
- Troubleshoot drilling fluid problems, such as loss of circulation, shale inhibition, and formation damage.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations related to drilling fluids.
- Maintain accurate records of fluid properties, treatments, and performance data.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer or Specialist in the Oil & Gas industry .
- Strong understanding of drilling fluid chemistry, rheology, and filtration properties.
- Experience with various drilling fluid systems (e.g., water-based, oil-based).
- Knowledge of mud logging and formation evaluation principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
